Building Your Solution with BDL

Whether you need a full blown program or a small project, we first sit down with you to fully explore your situation, your goals and clarify your expected outcome. This is a good time to supply us with information on past efforts and materials and data. We'll also set up the business aspects of our relationship at this time such as company contacts and availability, reporting and conference frequency, budget and billing procedures and like matters. We'll also discuss possible strategies and a course of action, or we may recommend more research depending on the complexity of the situation.

We'll identify the audiences you want to reach. Sometimes you will know them and other times, we can help you identify where the real power lies or decisions are made. We'll identify individuals or groups who hold influence and power within that audience as well.

Next, we'll compose your key messages. Using our knowledge of your situation, your goals and your audience, we'll devise messages that will affect your audience. Your messages are clear and consistent throughout your organization and across all your communications. The audiences are many, and your messages must fit each audience and situation, but all must be in harmony with the core message of your company. All must work together.

We will recommend the best strategy to solve the situation within the agreed time and budget. We will offer communication channels to reach the groups and individuals we've identified and select a variety of communications tools best suited for your delivery.  Literally hundreds of tools are available. Just consider how many ways we communicate. Common tools are media publicity, events, direct mail, e-mail, telephone, printed or electronic materials, websites, paid advertising, luncheons, public speaking but these are not all. After all, politicians are quite effective going door to door and managers may manage best, communicate well and learn the most about operations and employee attitudes just by walking around.

Once you agree with and approve our recommendations, we build a calendar and an action plan that includes execution, evaluation and reporting so we all stay aligned.  Your plan may be a one page sheet or a full manual, depending on the complexity of the situation to be solved. Then we assign the tasks, roll up our sleeves and go to work. We may do everything, leaving you only to review and approve as we proceed or we work in partnership with members of your staff. In either case, we'll need access to staff for information and data.
